Is it just me or the second mother's character is becoming more and more useless.. she vanishes for most of the story and only comes to stop the momentum of the protagonist. where was she when he was getting beaten???

this is the part which I do not like about the protagonist.He is too kind. he should have killed the old dog becoz of all he did. the entire story just shows that he had not learned his lesson after what happened with his daughter. After everything he did he got a free pass just because he was a relative

I wish he would just crush the old man after everything he has done...... dont want him to be spared
