I can't know for sure. I am only saying he doesn't strike me as such for the reasons I named. Narcissists crave attention whether they have it or not. They always feel it is too little and the need for it is strong and constant and if he was, I don't think he would let the rumors about him continue. He would care about his image. I said that he doesn't have a "fragile ego" but he sure does have an ego. Whether it is crushed yet, I am not sure as it isn't fragile. He seems rather amused to me and loving the challenge. His ego also takes me back to his predatory nature. Was he like that before when still human? They all seem insensitive to humans. They are meant to be food. So I am not sure if it is self-love as much as it is lack of empathy which brings me to the psychopath part like you said. I agree. Psychopaths often manipulate others for their own personal gain or pleasure, with little regard for the feelings or wellbeing of others. He has sadistic tendencies also 😆 🤣 , he makes me shiver too. But yeah, it is the interesting part. I look forward to how Daisy may bring out the more humane part of him.
While I do think he is manipulative, he doesn't strike me as narcisstic. Narscisstic people crave constant attention and admiration, which he doesn't care about the least. They have fragile ego's and can't handle criticism while he seems to enjoy it and even welcome it. He seems confident in himself and doesn't take himself to seriously. He does have other problems though but he seems to share most of those traits with his fellow vampires. Could be a predator thing.
It is also one way street in a way. He was actively involved in causing death and destruction. The sisters were not! Ravina got easily along with Aaron but Malachi was a different story because he was actively involved and as a king he has a responsibility so feels right to hold him accountable
They have but not when she is a wreck and her father is on his deathbed. When she is struggling and needs him the most is not the right time to throw a pity party for himself 🤷♀️. And Richard might not be as "cynical" but I think he will come to accept Malachi quicker mostly because he has messed up too and knows personally what it is like to do so, so who is he to judge at this point and also because he wants to make up for his mistakes.
I was thinking the same thing, but I sympathize with Helena. They are in a historical setting and a woman with her young daughter alone without money or protection was dangerous. They could be raped, abused and God knows what out there on the streets. If she was alone, I think she might have left but for Daisy to just have a roof for protection of young woman, she endured.
Could also be worse if he turns to be abusive. Think her fear comes from not knowing him and how far he can go and what he is capable of, therefor the devil you know than the one you don't.
I mean, imagine your sister brings home someone who has killed thousands of your people and she tells you that "he has changed". I doubt anyone would be welcoming without being highly suspicious and worried. It is disturbing to say the least so Corinna's reaction makes perfect sense
I don't think he was ever ok with it. Deep down it always bothered him and he only thought he could leave her but I don't think he would have been able too. Now this is the push that makes him realize it
I am not sure how I feel about this. Malachi shouldn't have let Joel take care of this. His brothers except for Aaron have not shown to have good judgement. I understand they are his brothers but he is king. Time to take control and surround himself with smart people in his court
💯. Ares is more than his powers and that is why he is the one for me. It is sad that he is seen as the better option only if he is more powerful when he has so many other great qualities. Do people like the power or the person lol and what is defined as power? I think Ravina is powerful and she has no abilities. Her father as a king was powerful. I even like her sister despite not having read much about her.
If most dragons don't know about sea demons then there must be a reason so I am not sure if Ares should disclose what he is if his people are operating in secret. The woman asked whether he planned to mate with Nazneen otherwise she wanted to erase her memory. It gives me the feeling that he can only tell a dragon if he plans to mate with her so his race stays in secret. And we already know that he is supposed to keep the fact that he is a tamer a secret. I don't blame him for keeping anything to himself. They know little but already feel threatened by his abilities. Of course he is going to want to keep things that could get him into danger to himself.
I have always preferred Ares even before we knew he was a sea demon or tamer so to me it wasn't about what he is. I prefer him personality wise. He is more mature, intelligent, supportive, patient and charming. He is a gentleman but also straightforward, flirtation and naughty. Although he has lived shorter, he has more experience because of his tough life where he had to take care of himself. He really is the full package and Malachi is lucky he is the male lead. I am not surprised though. Second male leads often tend to be better from my own experience 😂
I love how Ares stays protective of Ravina. He is navigating through all of this calmly and maybe he is a bit relaxed too knowing she is actually fine and he doesn't have to feel guilty and blame himself for sending her away. That burden and fear is off his shoulders.
He might not be the 1st ML but the author is not taking his character lightly which I am happy about since I always thought he had so much potential. She said she would make a good second ML who wouldn't just be the shadow of the ML and it is showing. He is also my favorite male character.
They are all tortured in a sense. We might feel more bad for the dragons because of their instinct but I would argue feelings can be as strong and they have all had feelings for someone who didn't return their feelings or they couldn't be with. They all have a sense of loss in way. Since he is dying, he is not thinking of considering anything but feelings are not something we can decide on either. We can't decide whom to fall in love with to return their feelings and that is something the dragons have a hard time grasping. These humans don't have the same strong instinct so it has to come in other ways: the connection or feeling. And if they want someone to return their feelings then they have to make the effort.
