Ngl, the plot progression isn't bad. I just have an issue with the author's execution. More specifically, the use of suspense. We have no idea what the teachers and Isabella ended up deciding to use for the competition. In one chapter, they were discussing and in the next, the competition starts. We see bits of Isabella's thoughts on how it would go and we see the obvious provocation of the vice principal towards the mc. This heavily implied that atticus would be targeted. At reading the end of this chapter, it seems as though the other students have access to their suits and four of them happen to target atticus. We didn't even get to know the rules of the competition You see, since we, the readers are kept in the dark, it's easy to have this misconception. This leaders summit is sub important... Atticus winning it is a forgone conclusion, so hiding the details this much is really frustrating and unnecessary The impression we get from the school now is... "we can do what we want and there's nothing you can do" . At this point, the competition is just seen as unfair towards atticus even if that might not be the case. For all we know, at this point , regardless of the contract, the teachers could use certain loopholes to attack atticus.
Tbh, the forcing bit is a it excessive. Just a bitThe leaders could order their stronger subordinates to attack and force others to sign similar contracts.Regardless of tier, the members of the academy are here for the betterment of the human race.Although, regardless of the contracts, the stronger members would bully the weaker onesAnd... There could be other reasons asides bullying that could make one force a contract.Had atticus had bis back against a wall, he'd definitely do something similar knowing his personality I'm just neutral about this decision of the author.Since the academy clearly is trying to prepare them for the real world , it's safe to believe that there are tools that would force others to do the bidding of others...Now, what would atticus, as a leader do?
"gravely unlucky".🤣🤣🤣🤣
Not exactly easy yk.He cultivated from a dragon and now, a deity.Even though he tried resisting the mentality change it's not like he was immune.
