Of course he would based on the previous chapters where crystal was showing off her connections to sullivan group. So now after leaving the sullivan groups building, he knows right there and then when tommy answered him that it was not crystal. Also, he first thought maybe it was his wife who is the ceo, but he did not want to fool himself so he needed to think rationally, and as wallace said,,,he knows his wifes family background well.
