not every story needs to be a harem. also all the female so far has been his relatives. so pushing for harem this early (especially with thsm) is absolutely disgusting.
still wouldn't make sense. people were capable of critical thinking even before the modern education system. having wheat that can be grown 4x per month rather than 1-2x per year is definitely very sus, even an idiot can figure that out.
he mentioned the most basic info. absolutely nothing technical. what I am surprised is that the inhabitants of that world didn't already knew about them. in am pretty sure crop rotation and water wheel based saws and several other inventions were used in the early medieval era. aqueducts, masonry, brick/concrete making and irrigation goes back to early classical era. selective breeding goes back to almost stone age.
her character meshes well with MC in a yin-yang kind of way. she serves as a balance.
the 1% production bonus will be quite OP in late game. heres an example how: if you played total war attila, the Eastern Roman empire has a ability that give 5% interest income based on the amount of gold in the treasury at the end of every turn. so as long as as you have positive income, by late game it will snowball to the point where you can have 1M+ income per turn, max army and navy stack and all the military buildings, even if you own only 1 province. mean while other factions will struggle to even have positive income. on a more real world scenerio, the economic growth of advanced economy is 1-2% per year. so if Ian's settlement focuses on developing economy until it turns into an advance economy, then that 1% production will become an additional 50-100% faster economic growth (when compared with advanced economies).
at this rate the next necessity is a central bank, to keep track of (and adjust the value of) the currency. Also what happened to the age mechanic? I remember in the early chapters, any settlement that managed to research a specific number of stuffs from the tech tree would advanced to the next age.
The world background thing is the main negative thing about this novel. Like where the heck did the varangians come from? By the 12th century pretty much the entirety of the Nordic region became catholic. So instead of goin to the golden horn, the Nordics focused more on developing their home region and stopped being vikings. Also, in one of the chapters it mentions eating tomatoes and in another it mentions wating tuna. Tomatoes are from the Americas and were initially considered poisonous, and I am pretty sure they don't have tunas in the Mediterranean. There are also other similar issues. So I will give this novel 4 out of 5 stars for the world background. Otherwise the novel is pretty good and agree with OP.
I have read up to chapter 204 (the others aren't showing up). This is the first webnovel that I actually spent fiat money on (I donated cryptocurrency to other webnovels before). I didn't regret my choice. This novel is like a fusion of the "Civilization" game series, HUMANKIND, the anime/light novel "Full Dive: This Ultimate Next-Gen Full Dive RPG Is Even Shittier than Real Life!", with some Hololive characters (i.e. Calling, Gura and Mumei) showing up as special NPCs. Based on the trajectory of the story, it's likely we'll see some "Dr. Stone" like features as well. The only reasons I gave some categories 4 instead of 5 stars is because as follows: The website says chapter 204 was updated over half a month ago, I want to read more chapters. Story development is very good. However the MC isn't using the resources/manpower at hand very efficiently, especially in regards to farming. The MC put a lot of though into pottery, grain processing and even implemented something akin to compulsory public education, but for some reason overlooked farming technologies (i.e. fertiliser, irrigation, ploughs, etc.). Which is the most important factor for growing his village, if the real world is anything to go by. Btw, once he learns about fertilizers, it will be much easier to jump into tech trees like gunpowder and explosives. Another thing is metalworking. The MC had a hard time getting access to copper, so he could've potentially skipped bronze working and jumped into iron working instead (there are historical examples of this, where some tribe skipped the process amd jumped from stone age to age of steel). Maybe these things will be addressed in later chapters. Lastly the world background feels very incomplete. However, MC is only upto bronze age, so maybe things will change dramatically and the world will be adequately explained on later chapter. Overall this is a very good webnovel.
