The author is very adept at catching the readers attention.The grooms reactions are interesting. need to read further to get a good idea of where the storyline is going.

i like the way he is comforting her making her feel safe.

I can understand your character, after living in nothing but cruelty and abuse, she has learned to accept anything. This seems to be a happier situation, we will see as the book continues.
