How could she feel anything but the need to prove that she is worthy of the esteem he feels towards her after him saying something like that? Either way, I love it because it pushes her character development.

Sometimes I wonder if this is an "accurate" representation of Riftan's facial expressions or if it's just being described from Maxi's point of view which is influenced by her past abuse.
