If I remember correctly, Coil's power grants him the ability to 'split' the world into two timelines. He can then do whatever he likes in either timeline, collapsing the least ideal timeline and keeping the timeline he wants. In actuality, his power does not create multiple timelines but is instead a powerful form of precognition. His power simulates the two possible timelines he would go through in vivid detail, then predicts which timeline he would choose to keep. well since there is a non zero chance of an Eldritch abomination popping up on the front door I'll take my chances and read at least a few books, besides we could always do a bit of both
Now, I'm sure some of you crazy voices claim to be an alpha and whatnot and show who is boss after absorbing all the glowing books; afterward, you would go through an epic training montage and beat whoever tries to mess with you.
