(cont) plus the mixed signals given by the japanese government regarding whether they full acknowledge what they did (e.g. revisionism in school history books) and repent for their crimes (e.g. contradictory apologies) surely doesn't help koreans to just forgive and get over the grudge. not that koreans themselves are free from sin (e.g. crimes during vietnam war) so obv they shouldn't be portrayed as kind and pitiful angels, but in the context of this novel i think this doesn't happen, there's plenty of evil koreans haha

tbh i do agree that keeping a mind free of prejudice is the right way to live, but if you know what happened in the past between korea and japan you will also understand why there is enmity. japan's colonization over korea and the crimes they committed towards the korean people were not that long ago, so in a way i understand why that "generational trauma" could influence the way koreans see japanese today. but as you said, the most peaceful way to live would to constantly work to dismantle prejudices, it's just more difficult to some because of history.
