It's confusing how not so long ago, the most destructive thing Oric could do with his powers was incinerate and perforate himself and now, all of a sudden, he has the expertise to fight an apex predator in this MAGICAL FOREST and use the powers of two subordinate creatures to put up a good one at that, oh well, plot armour I guess

The monster let out agonized cries as the scorching flames engulfed its body, rendering it temporarily blind. In a frenzy, it thrashed about, attempting to land blind strikes on Oric. However, Oric's swift movements made him elusive, disappearing from the monster's reach. Just as Oric prepared to deliver a decisive blow, a pack of ethereal blue fiery wolves and hellhounds materialized, encircling the rampaging monster. maybe because they aren't powers but a disease caused by a magical defense mechanism borne by those two...magical beasts you just devoured...and demeaned so?

Well mainly because of something only written in the upcoming comic, the doctor knows his mom and... everything about her family so knows where to check and what comes as a result but thanks for telling me, I'll work on that.
