The word unknown in this sentence is necessary to show which meaning of ominous and dreadful is meant by the author. Also, dreadful and ominous have slightly different connotations. Ominous implies foreboding or, in this case, a sense of xenophobia (fear of the unknown). It does not imply an active fear now, just forshadows a scary experience. Dreadful, in this sentence, instead emphasizes the terror felt by the captain in the current time. It is saying the captain is actively afraid now, anxious now, of the future. So the meaning with both adjectives describing the fear implies that there is a current and future reason for the xenophobia. It explains both saying the ship's electronics are malfunctioning (current problem) and their food is running out with no solution insight (future problem). I know you probably didn't comment to get this type of reply, but thanks for reading it anyway.

This is who Quinn is because he can't open up his ears and LISTEN -_- they said Yak demon...they told him what it was and he just doesn't listen and assumes "it's big it has to be a demon king" -_-

Stupid stupid...so stupid Quinn -_- Yeah, because when the people you are with specifically tell you there is a demon king and then don't say "here comes the demon king" then yes totally...its a demon king...lets just overkill it....-_-

I think he should have pushed and said that he needs to know what ability the person had so he can make the best thing the crystal could be, not just a best of its kind...like other crystals, I would think each ones ability and such would make better weapons or armor or accessories not the best of all. ie. Quinn boots are the best the monkey godslayers crystal could be. If that crystal was instead any other piece of armor or a shield, it wouldn't let him walk on air now would it? This leads me to believe that Pine's crystal would be best made into a shield or a chest piece armor because Pine could absorb and convert energies into a single type that he could fire back in a direction, similar to the demon tier crab shield Nate used. So a shield would pair well with the sword he now has because he can either negate the energy existing or absorb and shoot it back at the attacker.
