I wouldnt really called it forced. The scavenger got away the first time because of the whole LO49 thing which made sense because sunny hadnt slept for two straight weeks and was fighting battle after battle while looking for whatever it was killing the civilians,then it got away again after sunny was completely spent on essence,strength, insanely just fatigued overall because of you know….dieing,so it having the upperhand made sense. also the gruge it holds also makes sense since nightmare creatures have been shown in the past to be quite persistent and its been implied they have enough intelligence for it- like alot, so yh

You really missed the point of all that. Nephis has a motivation strong enough to drive all her actions,all sunny wanted to do was survive. Effie didnt say he will never surpase neph, just that without the proper conviction he wont. He took it to heart and has himself in the way of danger despise all his instincts sayings its a stupid idea just so he can find his own conviction. If sunny was suddenly surpass nephis thered be little motive for him to move forward. He needs to grow and his only two reasons to continue are nephis and the sovereigns…and maybe rain.

Ok so ive never written a reveiw before so idr know what im doing lol….when i found shadow slave i was at a pretty dark time im my life. Depressed and just lacking the energy go get up out of bed at all. I remember reading the first six chapters and then giving up because I couldn’t be bothered,them i basically said fuck it ive got nothing better to do. I had literally no idea about the rollercoster of emotions this novel would take me on. I used sleep through the whole day and waste my life away on discord or video games in the middle of the night. Sunny has inspired me in ways most people could truely never understand. And yes i know hes a fictional character in a very unrealistic setting but watching him routinely suffer in ways i still have a hard time grasping have really showed me my life could’ve so much worse. Watching him make friends made me decide to interact with people irl, watching him fight and try to push himself inspired to go to the gym(im still impressed with myself about that ngl) and watching him figure out his emotions made me get my own shit together. GuiltyThree your world and characters have brought me joy in ways i never thought i could have,inspired me to be a half decent human being and for that im extremely grateful( deadas want to cry like a bitch rn) i love you man and i love your novel. 10/10 PS- what ever tf that thing was that kept telling sunny to open his eyes while they were at the soul devourer still has me shook bro and im at the falcon scott arc 😂
