The military has tremendous influence in China. Regimental commanders oversee thousands of troops that go through some pretty incredible training. Although I doubt his family wield any real “political” power, just his influence over his troops would be cause for pause. I don’t know how much freedom a Reg. Cmndr. would have, but China doenst hesitate to deploy their military to civilian areas, so maybe that’s where the influence lies.

This isn’t that uncommon for people of our generation. We see so much death, destruction, and injustice every day that any “normal” form of passing away fails to affect us in the “regular” manner. I didn’t cry at any of my grandparents’ deaths, not because I didn’t care, but because the way they died wasn’t the worst thing that ever happened to someone.
