I read your other questions and they are spoilers so I’ll just answer this one. In Fate, a heroic spirit can only be summoned after they die. Scáthach never actually died. She grew so strong and skilled she not only killed gods but her own death. She hoped her most promising student, Cu Cullain, would eventually grow enough to kill her but he died too young. The only reason she is summonable in FGO is because the world ended in that timeline. To make a long story short, she faces the classic immortality problem of wanting to die but being able to. This is compounded by her insane skills and her desire to go out after giving a fight her all. She will never ‘let’ someone kill her or take her own life. So she waited for someone strong enough to kill her. They never came. Also, in Fate, humanity as a whole get weaker as time goes on. Surviving till the modern day basically killed all her hope.

I’ll avoid say anythinging direct due to spoilers but I am aware of it and make specific mention of it and the reasons in the fic.
