Before settling into his ambush spot Thorfinn took off his tunic and rubbed mud and earth onto his body. Thorfinn shouted as he brought his axe down on a man who had attempted to stab him with a pitchfork, the man screamed out in pain as Thorfinn had broken his sternum with his strike and he was struggling to breathe; he fell to the ground where Thorfinn lifted his shield and slammed it into his chest again caving it in fully. Thorfinn had been travelling for near enough a week and this was the first village he had come across. Well, calling it a village would be too generous, it was likely that it was owned by one man who had multiple families live there and farm the land.
