Instinct, even animals in the wild do similar acts. They give up there own lives to save there young even if the young have no chance of survival on their own.

Yep, sounds about right. We humans are pretty reckless like that.

Assuming the original owner of this body died during the transplant, his body system should have been failing by now or something according to what he heard. I think he gasped after leaving the giant tube. I'm assuming they meant that the tubes/cells were sound proof. just my guess tho.
