But she is and will be exposed to war and injuries, except she feels helpless and useless now. I know Maxi dreams of going with Riftan on his raids, but that is not part of the conversation just yet. Also, if I try to defend Riftan, It is obvious he is trying to protect her, but he will occasionally leave her for God knows how long, and when he's not around to protect her I don't think Maxi is safer without magic than with it.

I feel the same. While I know Riftan wouldn't hurt her in any such way, Maxi just isn't aware of it yet, and this sounds like something to remind her of her father's ways, again 😩 the poor soul just cannot do anything without paying for it.

It's beautiful 🥺🥺🥺 I love this book more with each paragraph. And Ruth has a major role in it.

Ya'll arguing about historic facts in a fantasy? Why would it clash with magic? I think this single sentence is brilliant and adds a lot of depth to the whole lore.

I feel a bit confused about him behaving on 2 polarities with her. He's breaking himself to fulfil her needs resulting from her birth class and be good enough for her, but is so much the opposite when they are intimate that it is very clashing.
