I am still trying to figure out why it took them so long to get there. They knew their kids were in danger of not only dying but of being hypnotized by a lunatic. For all they know, their kids could have already forgotten all about them and they decided to help a village on the way. Didn't these people say they would go against the Emperor for their kids. I'm not actually mad they stopped I'm mad that we know the attack ended that night but they didn't show up tell the next evening even when we are shown it's right next to the capital. I just don't see a reason why they were so late especially knowing that their kids could be harmed at any time. But I could move past all that for just one line from anyone to them asking "so you just left your kids to get hypnotized while you were off having an adventure." I just feel like two characters had to be partially sacrificed just for a small plot point that at this point seems pointless. Other than this one point I really enjoy the novel so keep up the good work I just needed to vent about what are basically portrayed as perfect parents but seemed to not care about their kids when they were in danger and it was never really explained aside from they couldn't leave people asking for help. well your kids needed help to and would have died twice if not for one kid having sound canceling headphones and the other bitting their tongue.
Honestly it's good at first but they way a certain character is treated through out the book by the Mc just makes the Mc an ass and makes you pity the character tell they go crazy and basically just ruin their entire character. not to mention the predictable and cliche main Heroine is unnecessary and irrelevant for most of the book until she because the Heroine. basically makes it unreadable past that. but that's just because I don't like it when characters are treated like this.
