Lu Jueyu frowned when she heard this, but looking at his expression, she had a hunch that the food seller might be someone from the dark side. She took out her wallet from her clothes, handed it to her husband, and said, "Husband, be careful."
Before he finished speaking, he saw his wife looking at him with a bright smile on her face. Unfortunately, that smile did not reach her eyes as usual. His survival instincts immediately kicked in and he shut his mouth. He stood obediently beside his wife, not daring to say a word.
"Jostein…" Jessamyn whispered, her voice trembling with emotion as she placed her hand on his face, right on the jasmine-shaped mark. She gently caressed him, her fingers tracing the familiar contours with a tenderness born of long-held affection. "I'm sorry, I didn't visit you…"
Jessamyn tried to speak but he pushed her from the back toward the horse. Jessamyn's eyes landed on the horse. The horse's eyes, which had once sparkled with vitality and spirit, were now dull and lifeless, clouded with pain and resignation.
Jerrick carried her to a nearby bench, gently caressing her head with tenderness, not minding the pain radiating from his shoulder. The deeper her teeth sank into him, the gentler his caresses became; each stroke a silent reassurance. He sat on the bench, leaning against the wall, cradling her securely in his lap.
"Why would I cry?" she asked, her voice a mixture of defiance and vulnerability. Still clinging to him, she wrapped her legs around his waist and, in a sudden surge of anguish, bit into his shoulder.
Jerrick knew this all too well; he had once believed his departed wife had caused the fire that took their son's life. The power of grief is relentless and consuming, staining the heart with an unmanageable darkness that resurfaces with every pang of memory.
did you just say that she threw small animals into her space...
She walked around the forest and found many fruit trees, mushrooms, medicinal herbs, staple foods, and even small animals, all of which she put into her own space. After exploring the mountains for five hours, she discovered a mountain river and decided to take a break.
Lu Jueyu was left speechless. She had no idea there was such a rule. All she knew was that they were forbidden from raising animals for sale, or anything that would bring them something precious, like pearls from oysters. She didn't know if this rule was made up by the author or if it actually happened in history. Regardless, this rule is bad news for her.
Then her thoughts turned toward Isadora. "Now I feel bad for Isadora…" Jessamyn mumbled. Isadora was a small woman. How will she manage to handle a quarter-giant? She shivered imagining Isadora delivering Bernard's baby.
"Her hair got caught…" Celena chuckled, gently untangling the hair that got caught on her bracelet. "Humans can't move on if we get tethered too, can we?"
"Her hair got caught…" Celena chuckled, gently untangling the hair that got caught on her bracelet. "Humans can't move on if we get tethered too, can we?"
She hugged his arm and rested her head on it. Bernard went stiff and stayed motionless like a stone statue. At least, she wasn't sobbing anymore, and that made him think that she was getting better.
He felt a chill and noticed that the window at the end of the hallway was open. He looked at the pitiful crying figure. If he felt the chill, she should have too. Maybe that was the reason she was hugging herself. She wasn't even wearing very warm clothes.
Ultimately, he let his heart win as his rational thoughts led nowhere. Slowly, he stretched his hand and reached behind her neck to hug her around her shoulder. She was so small and looked pitiful as she sobbed.
