As the reader might ask, couldn't they just time-travel to the night after their initial time travel, making only a second pass so they'd instantly return to the point after they time-traveled? However, this action seems to be prohibited by the Time Patrol. It appears that time keeps moving for them even when they time-travel to the past. When they spend an hour in the past or future, their current time also advances by an hour. This is the rule, and they can't return to the exact moment just one second after their time travel unless necessary.
