The author already stated in the hospital scene that his body was healing dramatically on its own and the doctors didn’t have to do much on him because the exercise was doing all the work while he was unconscious. imagine him being conscious and using exercise to boost his healing factor.

In the previous chapters he already stated that serious injuries/broken bones to us will take him 30 minutes to heal. I assume in the fights when he meant broken bones or cracks in his bones they were not protruding out of his skin and Ideally they are broken inside his body not coming out of his body. So with his healing factor from the devils exercise they should be able to heal properly.
