So true. Every rule is by force, and without rules, force is the only thing that matters. This is the conundrum of the human condition. A rule without force behind it is useless; however anarchy breeds abuse faster than rule of law.
*****possible spoiler?***** I think the poison is to temporarily take someone's magic away while the jewelry are slave collars in disguise. First neutralize their magic then collar them. Probably why the enchantment did not work on himself because marking it made him the controller. Him controlling himself is redundant. Probably how that one teachers new jewelry (slave collar) comes into play.
