Lower Class has nothing to do with wealth or resources, just mana core strength at the beginning of the year. He's the heir to a Dukedom, and even the worst of the lower class are one of the 100 qualifiers out of 4000 applicants, most of whom are nobles. Why in the world would people expect the lower class not to be able to pay for potions? This is so dumb
Well at this point I'm not sure if I care about any of these characters anymore. The author did an amazing job of building a world, establishing great characters, and growing the characters as they overcome adversities. Then it looked like he had an idea of where he wanted the plot to develop to, but he wasn't sure how to get the characters to that point. So we have a whole plot arc of lazy writing where the author contradicts what he's established about his own characters to squeeze them into the final form. I just don't believe the characters anymore. They're not the same people I've followed from the start. And don't get me started about how lazy a Deus Ex Machina plot resolution is. Maybe I'll keep reading, but at this point I just don't know if it's worth it. The characters I know don't exist anymore, and I don't know if I can manage to actually care about whoever this MC is who used to be Will
