Fair valid points there. Just that nobody’s forcing Maria on Michael now and how the situation is worded, it’s just more like the author is intent on dismissing Archangel’s Grace, which is just bad writing at this point imho, given how much of a role it has played in keeping Michael alive. This turn is hurting the story I think.

I’d rather you outright say you changed your mind than get this badly veered course correction. there was so much more to go further into in the story without insisting on some things being suddenly problematic but whatever

Can’t he just modify the Mark of Fate? Seems like an unnecessary piece of work and energy expenditure to remove it. And ultimately untangle the Maria plot, I guess?

And yeah, I don’t get the point of the Maria subplot now. There doesn’t even have to be a harem cause she could still match with Kaleb or another of Michael’s friends and allies. Removing the shard just feels like a ploy to reduce her relevance and unwrite their undeveloped romance. Which is an unfortunate way to go about it cause their family and how they are regarded by all other supremes and nobles is honestly far more interesting to me than the Zenovias. Their matriarch is far more sensible and likeable too imho.

Archangel’s Grace has incredible potential with Maria in proximity though. And even without her it’s been vital keeping Michael in one piece for so many times on top of his own regeneration. It also complements both his Curses and his soultrait, which is why it picked him as Primal Amplifier in the first place. It feels rather forced to just suddenly make the soultrait inconsequential. Worse than suddenly making Sword Qi “incompatible” with Michael. I understand plot twists but this is just too sharp a turn to be sensible.

We don’t know yet how they stand with the SHA but I’d wager their matriarch won’t stand for them and the disease they’re spreading, which their clan may or may not be able to treat? Regardless the SHA is likely moving against them so yeah, Maria getting targeted isn’t far off the possibilities I guess

Maybe more have been summoned but weren’t mentioned yet? Or do they only come from legendary scrolls, I forget. If so, then the new deal with the Valyrs (if they opt) would mean the eventual coming of the rest of the Tigerfolk.

Finally. I always wondered why he didn’t at least make a positive example of Zira in the first place. She had at least from the beginning been as genuine with him as she was allowed, given she hadn’t been entirely favoured with a low ranked soultrait. Through her the clans would see the true value of a well-suited soultrait boosting her natural strengths. She would be a poster girl to show just that and how much of a loss (and an actual threat) it would be to be going in any way against Michael.
