I dont think money would have been transferred on the spot, he had to go with him then wait for money to come But, now he knows his family is not innocent so no problem in killing them right Either way if he wants money he can take it all even after killing them. Plus if he would have killed him after taking money then others would have been able to reverse track him. And he would have been exposed, which could have been problematic for him.
