I am reading novels and fanfic from the past 5 years so I can understand your feelings, it gets boring quickly cause we've read all the formats and can determine the future plot with simple clues unless something is really interesting or new, in that case I am bit similar to you, I sometimes play music while reading fic.

Not going against you, but I don't really understand how an audiobook is better than reading yourself where you can read at your own pace and have diff burst of emotions and reactions. To me audiobook just feels like some lazy narrative which isn't immersive.
