You legend
fixed. Thanks
It's the prologue... You could have just skipped like in any other book...
Keep focused. Respect the grind. We are all gonna make it, brahs.
In the next chapters, Alex begins to act by himself and grind. He is still attached to Rick, but now his resolution to kill him grows. So, no slavery for him anymore. There will be some focus of Rick's group after the Ravine Arc, but the slavery thing won't be so outstanding anymore, let alone the main focus of the story. Must say that I agree with you when you say that slavers should suffer, but everything has a reason to exist in this story, even though some of them aren't the most pleasant things.
D&D vibes
Do you know what gets me flabbergasted? The girl didn't do literally anything in the entire story; she hasn't shown any potential, personality traits, or had long interactions with the MC. Even so, everyone hates her already for no apparent reason... sigh...

Maybe a bit of spoiler below so... The MC doesn't spare female enemies. Mostly, he doesn't have REAL companions, and you will get what I mean after getting to a certain part in the story. MC's level of ruthlessness depends on the stage of the story. However, I would say that he is balanced. He never goes 100% ruthless or 100% good and loyal. It depends on the situation. There is no Harem. Also, I should say that the story focuses on different characters. The MC is just one, but the narrative end up focusing on different ones at times and goes deep into them.
