You gotta remember the time period he is currently in, during the 20th century it was hard for women to leave their husband. I know they aren’t married yet but they probably will when he gets back from war. Like I was saying, women put up with their man beating/abusing them and cheating on them because they didn’t have the mindset or job opportunities that made them feel safe to leave the toxic/abusive relationship
