The 150 times their weight thing only happens with ants due to 2 things: 1.- Highly compressed muscles and a hard carapace for its size. 2.- Ants weight very very little xD. And since our MC already has compressed muscles to a very very high degree, he don't need no ant.

True. Still tho, spying work is generally done for intelligence gathering and to better understand your opponent. In the case of the collective tho, this is done in order to advance and grow, not to truly understand its opponent.

By the very concept of the collective that would be inefficient. it has no need or want to understand or know more about it's adversary's, why would it use subterfuge when overwhelming adaptability and power are the goal?. Remember this ....thing does not want to understand reasoning, it only wishes to grow.
