Reverend Insanity is a great book with a bad guy main character who doesn't feel like an edge lord or cheesy cartoon villain. It also feels like he doesn't have the Main Character Plot Armor that most Chinese MCs seem to have. Side characters don't feel like the typical morons who never learn a lesson, or are somehow oblivious to the power of their opponent. They bide their time and focus on their own progression rather than trying to use the power of a relative or Elder to suppress the MC. Every time they get beaten they are able to rationalize how they lost and still oppose the MC without coming off as morons, because they are usually correct in their line of thinking, or are at least incorrect in a way that is logical, rather than wild conspiracy or the typical "he was just lucky this time, this time my attack will definitely work!" garbage. Honestly a very compelling and well thought out story. Review made between chapters 60-70. Will update as I read further.
They literally explain why he doesn't do it. And this level of provocation is basically nothing. That's like asking "Why would somebody provoke the entire community?" because they did something against the rules while in grade school. It'll only matter for a short period of time and people will forget about it quickly.
