I think the farthest I got before now was around the end of their picnic day after the journey to the west. I stopped because I just needed a break, its a lot to get through and I probably had irl stuff to do without also dealing with the mindbending angst. By the time I picked up the novel again, I figured it would be best to go for a reread to remember context

This is my second time reading this novel, and yet I’ve never reached the ending. And yet, I absolutely consider ORV to be the best book/novel I’ve ever read. I don’t need to know the ending for the journey to have left it’s mark on me. So I say no, just like in the Journey to the West, it’s not about the ending.

There’s just so much that relates to them like this that I could see it happening (like how I see YJH as light, HSY as dark, KDJ as chaos, and writer, reader, protag parallels) (jeez imagine an orv noob trying to decode this 😅)
