If you want to read every small detail of how someone survives their day to day life, I suggest you read slice of life, because this is not it. It's a fantasy for a reason, you read and you fill in some blanks yourself, not everything has to be laid out for you on a platter like a 5 year old.

The mc is stupid, that's true. But are you expecting him to just know everything right off the bat? He's from the slums, the backwater dregs of society. First off, how is he even supposed to know anything when he has VERY limited access to information about the world of the awakened, let alone the primordial expanse. Second off, how is he supposed to know how to act or what to say in situations where he might be taken advantage of, when again he hasn't received any training or experience on the subject matter before? It's okay to say that he is dense, but he is dense for a reason, and obviously won't stay that way as time passes.
