People like what they like, and even if I personally won’t be reading this story I can keep my opinions to myself without getting offended at someone daring to have a different outlook than I do. The End of the Magic Era is, to me, both really enjoyable, and a bad story. The world and the magic system is really fun, and the adventures of Lin Yun and co. are oftentimes quite exciting as well. There are also aspects that are… less stellar. Many people complain about about the endless brainless villains- that complaint is legitimate; most humanoid villains are cartoonishly evil/dumb. Apart from that, though, the story is pretty decent. I can’t in good conscience rate it highly from a technical standpoint, but I would honestly recommend you give it a try. As long as you turn off your brain when the «young masters» come along, or otherwise enjoy the «face slapping»-trope, you’ll have a fun time.

Huh. I appreciate the explanation! I think I’m either being very dense or there’s some cultural reference I don’t understand, because I still can’t really see why that phrase implies a negative attitude towards the government. I usually only review stories I’m really passionate about, but holy heck, this novel has cucked me TWICE. The power system changes randomly without explanation and in a completely jarring way. I mean, I can enjoy a wish fulfilment story every now and then, but this story is pretty much the exact opposite. Just when you start getting into the story, everything changes and the previous characters/power system/plot is left to rot by the wayside, with no reaction or mention from anyone ever again...

A very appreciated change! While stats are nice in GameLit, stat dumps can get exhausting when there are too many of them (ie. the whole void monsters incident). Keep it up, this story is awesome!
Author's Note: I've changed how I handle these things. Instead of showing it then describing the changes one by one, I've opted to use a simple indicator to show what has changed. The only commentary was for new things, which helped me cut down about 6k plus words extra. - DaoistpKDRWU2yrCommented
