So after a bit more looking into this I have realised I am actually wrong about this. Caliburn is the sword in the stone when Arthur actually draws it out of the stone. He then breaks the blade and The Lady of the Lake reforges the blade into Excalibur

Those pills have decreased his total lifespan as Eno confirmed but man they could be useful
