Well with years of memories and possibly emotions attached to each memory could of distanced severus knee jerk obsession / simp for Lily mentality. Snape grew up in a abusive household leading him to attach himself to the naive lily. With these new memories it could point to a maturity/soul like growth from dependent to independent.
