Good point. It also sounds like Maxi went back to staying with tha mages instead of with her husband. Not the best plan if you are trying to find alone time. She is giving up while Riftan is trying not to control her

I agree. There is also a line between being helpful and hurting yourself to the point of destruction. Maxi has crossed that line more than once. Bring a mage is just making it worse. I just really feel that Riftan needs to stop trying to shelter Maxi and teach her to survive in the world. They would both grow and a relationship without mutual growth is doomed in the end. Even when other mages called Maxi’s rune genius, all she heard was that it wouldn’t work and she failed. Riftan has in turn never really shared even his thought process with anyone so he has no clue. I do see the other knights trying to help so maybe with respect and support.
