I think the beast they are looking for is the dragon connected to the blades remember in previous chapters in the lab it was a dragon and part of a pair

if you remember it also stated the king dying was part of the plan later not right now so I dont believe it is the second leader that is behind this because she has tried and tried again to help heal the king

no now Bryce can take over as king sadly Quinn isn't ready to take on Bryce yet
