If you braid hair overnight, it gains some slight texture even if there was none to begin with. If the hair is wet then it forms even more texture than it would when dry. When I was little, my mom would pop a few braids in my hair really long hair after showers at night so that when I woke up I would have "kinky" hair. It works pretty well if you dont want defined curls but still want texture. The smaller the braid, the more texture you get. I have very loose, almost wavy hair now that its shorter and not weighing itself down and ill still pull my hair into two French Braids to get a different texture going
