QWho's point of view is this?

Her eyes were the only things that could move, and as she glanced at the others around me, she realised we were all in the same predicament.

    Why almost naked? 🤣

With my gaze fixed on the flustered male in front of me, who subconsciously tried to cover his almost naked body, a slight smile graced my face.

I'm surprised she was able to walk in and no one stopped her. This political building doesn't seem heavily protected.

Groups of men stared at her with a mixture of confusion, disbelief, and barely veiled outrage. However, none made any attempts to chase her out.

"Citizens" only meaning men and the women vetted by the temple? I was starting to think this sounded like a democracy but then that caveat resurfaced in my mind.

The Aristocracy acted as a loosely-united governmental body whose primary purpose was to propose laws. Said laws would then be discussed and voted on by a Common Assembly comprised of the entirety of Hierapetra's citizens.

I am very confused. So why do men not have last names then.

Stronger than legions of guards and louder than a thousand warhorns, that simple word stopped anyone who didn't fit that specific criterion from stepping past the outer colonnade. Only men earned citizenship rights in the Kingdom of Stars and Astrologers, though women could attain a similar status when joining the Temple of Stars.

Thank the lord almighty, we were about to cross a dangerous line.

Anthea's finger briefly caressed Laemno's upper thigh, and then she retracted her hand with a teasing smile. "Unfortunately for you, dear Laemno, you're far too young. I hope you'll accept this as a parting gift~"

I want to remind that this is a child. It was still mildly acceptable when they were of legal against but... What was the legal age in the medieval era?

"We would teach them many things," she sweetly purred, "things clergymen and women would be too shy to attempt under Her Divine Majesty's gaze."

Well stress can make you do some dumb things in attempt to clear your head.

I'm such an idiot! Why did I do that?! I was panicking and had no other options, but still... What if I accidentally killed myself? Damn my stupidity. Where am I now?

    A wise and lonely man.

"You should curse me. I have failed you, just as I have failed your father." Iphiclus turned towards the theatron's exit. "Your stubbornness will lead you to an early grave, but that's not unlike him, is it? Farewell, and let's not meet again, for both our sakes."

I wonder what her father's "strength" used to be.

Nysa guessed that feeling loathed both inside and outside his home slowly drove him to despair. In his final years, he donated large sums of money to the Theatre of Priene, hoping to kindle meaningful relationships. Unfortunately, some of the city's officials and aristocracy took advantage of his wealth and often extorted him in the name of their friendship.

This was the Theatre of Priene, one of the Divine Capital's main cultural and political centers.

Experience as a theif helps with observation I'm guessing

Probably man-made, too. I can count two people on each side of me from the steps alone, so it's pretty spacious. Most importantly, it's connected to more than one route. We've had to take turns several times, but I felt wind gusts near some of them. It means there are junctions.

This is about as much as what I expected from a culture that is focused on strength and abhors weakness.

"Aberrations ought not to reject the manners instilled in them," she said while holding a cup of water. "You are less than a slave, more disposable than this very cup. You were born for a single purpose and have no worth if you fail to accomplish it."

Wel it is probably not inherently evil but a being of contract, and the contract states, flesh for answers to 3 questions. It may also just be mocking Laenmo.

The payment has been made. Three questions for three answers. I have already answered two, and one remains. I await your last query, Honored One.

Both of these "Individuals" are still intending to impede the countries sacrifice ceremony. While they may be helping him, that doesn't mean it is for Laemno's benefit.

Furthermore, he openly staged Father Agathon's suicide to draw the Luminous House's attention. He wanted them to increase the security since it would impede the first assassin's plans! He's protecting me!

I has a strange thought but maybe Agathon's Tongue book is connected to the the entity beyond the mirror?

To his surprise, it looked exactly as he had left it. The Priestess had most likely used some occult means to fish out the cracked table mirror underneath his bed.

Now that I think of it, what happened to he cuts on Laemno's hand?

Lyra raised an eyebrow. "There's a lingering scent of blood on it. Furthermore, it must've been hidden there recently since no dust has settled on its surface yet. Apart from the Adonal Virgins, did anyone enter your chambers these past few days?"
