Oh, thank goodness. actual grammar and correct English. Just came from another novel that looked like it was translated by a person of the original language.

A chill ran through the air, and the occasional flash of lightning illuminated the sky, revealing the ominous depth of the storm clouds. The thunder was a constant presence, a low, rumbling growl that seemed to vibrate through the very ground. It was a foreboding scene, one that seemed to promise danger and turmoil.
