let me just preface this by saying that i have only read up to chapter 85 and so everything I say here could be totally wrong but i just had to say my two cents. personally I liked the start of the novel, it had an interesting premise and main character, i had no problem with its resemblance to other novels, up to a certain point. However my greviences started with how fast the pase was and how inconsistent the story was at times. for one, I disliked the introduction of so many end game plots, like the whole explanation of his other self, the dragons, "it", it felt too soon, the author crammed so much explosion at the start of the novel at a point where the reader didn't know how to feel about this information and took away from the MC's story, like why not focus on one thing instead of jumping back and forth. also near where I stopped reading i noticed that the author added in a lot of tropes from other series to the point where i thought it was too much, how can you cram so many systems so early in, it just seems rushed, don't feel any attachment to the characters, they seem so overlooked. anyways I decided to give this a good review score because I Felt bad for dropping it so soon and gave it the benefit of the doubt, maybe later it gets better but I'll be honest, it was too much, too cringe inducing to keep at it.

reading these last few chapters i find myself starting to dislike Varian's character, he isn't a good person, he's a hypocrite and i kind of want to see him fail, idk this is probably just me

This guy is such a hypocrite, by acting the way he is, he is becoming the same as those who bullied him, a bystander, who knows though this might be part of his character growth????? at least i hope because if not then id find it hard to like the character or is just THAT kind of story?

i give the character design five stars because i have never hated a main character as much as i did this one. This insufferable child, yes child because despite being eighteen at the start continues to be no better than a child. He is an insufferable hypocritical character with seemingly no morals, like i get the point he was betrayed but so what he acts like he had it the worst as if others weren't suffering even more, he pushes away everyone, is insufferably idiotic and ignorant as well as impatient, traits associated to CHILDREN. i could go on but it would just be redundant, i am so impressed the author managed to create such an unlikable character, five stars
