    I love this woman's reactions

Valentine's expression soured as he listened, while Leah was rather excited.

Foreshadowing is a literary technique involving...

"You can't die! Who'll bring me back if you're gone? Anything's possible in the world of mysticism," lectured Aurore to her brother. "That's why I said all those sappy lines. So you'll remember to work hard and bring me back."

Well that sort of bestowment is a burden on the part of the God What better pathway to do this with than the one that most represents the concept of sacrifice?

I was thinking that some of the potency we see from Lumian's abilities is due to the potion nearing digestion. If not then attacks that break the sound barrier (unless that was hyperoble) is strangely powerful for a sequence 9 compared to a sleepless/seer/corpse collector/etc. and is a bit suspicious. But we have to admit that hunter Pathway is really unexplored so this might just be how it is. So maybe it is not CoI interference.

The author never said that you shouldn't read the 1st book beforehand. He just said that the 2nd would be friendly to newcomers but if you want to stockpile chapters just read book 1 and then come back to this. Someone else pointed out that the reveals of the 1st book will be less impactful and they are probably right. Believe me there's a lot of hints and implications that only book 1 readers will catch that really make for interesting discussions. Do whatever you want but you might quite regret not prioritising book 1 and it's not like it isn't one of the best books out there in its own right. If you're still attached to this story, and have the time, read both like they're a dual-narrative with more of a focus on book 1 perhaps.

Agreed. Doesn't quite look like a city(though sefirots do have distinct areas). There also seems to be too many signs of Lumian becoming a hunter that it feels like Cuttlefish's been baiting us. He might still be but the author is known for subverting expectations. So may he is subverting our expectations of him subverting them(double bluff?). Either way, I'm still on the fence on the discussion of him becoming a hunter with the City of Calamity. I don't get how some readers are so confident about it.

Yet we know from canon that the restrictions on sefirots was waning. We literally so a tributary from the river of eternal darkness(or whatever it is called). This seems to take place considerably later than that and for all we know, Klein might be or has been affecting things in some manner. Problem is we won't know exactly what's going till we do. Nothing can be ruled out currently especially the trial and testing bit which from an author's perspective might be more interesting to explore than handing over the sefirot like he pretty much did to Klein in book 1.

A nice start. Really pleasant set-up-hope it lasts... so anyway how many (if any) of these people are gonna die? Also, is there any confirmation on the Mc's pathway being Red Priest? Because if not then it's time to speculate.

That's crossed my mind as well. Klein, this whole time, has been leaving little crumbs of his origin all over the place like a troll. Imagine a transmigrator seeking the services of one Isengard Stanton and after a few days of work and conversation he let's slip that he's met many astute detectives over the years but one stands out, a good friend and exceptional talent, Sherlock Moriarty. Let the transmigrator head-spinning begin!!!

Cool. Now we’ll hopefully get to see Aucuces’ powers interact with the Tyrant authority. Feels like attacks could get really creative e.g: - raining those daggers of light he threatened the Black emperor with - bursts of superheated steam - reflecting light beams off of materialise surfaces of water/ice - Aucuces’ order domineeering and bearing down on reality.

I mean, it has to be a plan. Aucuces knows that lilith is being concealed. Evernight know he knows. Why would she be so reckless and kill his angel? Even if she's convinced that she'd get away with it as Lilith and Aucuces are in love, they could just silently side with Gaint king and have Amanises killed later down the line and then yoink the moon uniqueness. Surely she's not dumb. Maybe she has safety nets but things seem fishy.

Great chapter. Really nice writing from you. Feels very realistic like it's some WW1 pov. Also, the Angel of calamity ending up in Blaise's marionette closet would be a funny twist. He'd end up serving against his lord after all. Hope to see more from Blaise in general. Really cool character.

No way! I am also enjoying the sandman franchise right now. I highly recommend the audio book(on audible which is narrated by Neil Gaihman himself) if you want to relive the story. I only just finished the 24-hours arc but you definitely aren't exaggerating. It is probably the best works of fiction I've stumbled on.

Fair enough. Klein in the-story couldn't really convert Gods into marionettes so it makes perfect sense. Also, I feel that you've been doing a good job with the Red Priest and the concept of conquest.

Might be a bit long but one of the ideas I had for the sun Pathway’s fighting style was impromptu contracts. Idea being that with the target's astral body, contracts can be suddenly formed that commands a person to act in a particular manner. An example would be forming a contract demanding that the individual moves sideways (possibly into an attack). Said person can either do this or violate the contract which carries the negative effect of manifesting a sun within them and making them more vulnerable to future order abilities or contracts The sun could grow and swell if more contracts are violated at an exponential rate as Aucuce's contracts become more complex in what they can demand( from ordering their movement to hypothetically ordering their suicide or retreat) Since Aucuce's if fighting God's of equally potent pathways, maybe he'll have to get this creative and explore his powers more. Thanks for the chapter.

And with that, the war for the title of Almighty begins. I wonder if the other gods of Aucuses' group would even bother spending time on Alista or just go straight into conflict with Aucuces.

Authorities overlap. Black emperor, Justiciar and Sun all own shares in that company; Justiciar just happens to have the most (assumedly). Aucuces' Pathway has enough shares to the point that it can strengthen or weaken attacks at lower levels. It makes perfect sense that this authority becomes much broader and expansive at his level kinda like how marionettes evolved into fooling. Why not explore one of Aucuces' more complex fields?

Tbh, I prefer 3rd person. It's not a matter of skill but these character are really difficult to write the thoughts and feelings of in a really satisfactory way without revealing too much of the mystery upfront(show not tell sort of thing). I mean there's probably a reason why Cuttlefish himself only ever did one 1st person chapter in the whole series. He even explained that he wouldn't give Roselle a 1st person narrative because he would be a menace to write and that he is more effective from an onlookers view. Still, it was a very enjoyable chapter as always. Do what you want and if you want to try something new, I'd read regardless. Thanks
