Yea, you’re right, I just realized Vincent isn’t at fault or in the wrong, I mean you can’t just say you have feelings for someone when you’re not sure you do, that would just be wrong and it means hurting them more than actually just rejecting them. Also he knows himself and knows how darkness lurks in his very being, he cherish her way too much to want to hurt her, so he tried keeping his distance but could not, he wanted to also protect her from himself and that’s a plus, he wasn’t being a coward, he just needed to process his feelings and be certain
