This time jump is a little odd to me. The kids are suddenly three now, so we junped like 1 1/2 years from the last chapter . What about Zhai Hua’s baby being born? What did she have? That baby would be about a year old now. Not to mention, if she was done with her studies 1 1/2 years ago, why didn’t she graduate then? Also, why on earth is she there alone with her three children? When my two were that age, I never did anything like that unless they were strapped into a double stroller! How’s she going to walk up to get her diploma wrangling three toddlers? I wonder if the author is trying to set up a situation where something big (possibly bad) is going to happen . I also think it’s silly that apparently nobody from the Zhai family can show their face there. I’m sure they aren’t the only prominent ones who have family members graduating that day.

I know! This is really ridiculous . If they weren’t planning to go, they should have kept the kids home with them. This would be hard with even one toddler, let alone three. But whenever something makes absolutely no sense in this book, I often wonder if the author is purposely trying to set something up, and this is the only way they could make it work.

I don’t quite understand why she is there alone with the children . What is she going to do when she goes up gor her diploma? With the rest of the family staying home because they don’t want to be spotted in public (lame honestly) why wouldn’t the children stay home with them. I also don’t understand why they are three already. They were just 1 1/2. Even if she waited a year to graduate with the rest of her class (even though she was done a year earlier ) this would put them at 2 1/2. 🤷♀️
