I stayed up until 4 in the morning and it just ended like that??!!! One of the comments say the original is longer which makes sense. This version just stops halfway. To be fair, it does stop at a good break in the story but it’s definitely UNFINISHED! The good points of this novel (and what kept me from going to bed) is it has all the cliches that I love: abandoned orphans, finding their rich parents, an evil sister, a horrible adopted family, and face slappings every other chapter. So tropey but so satisfying. Beyond the cliches, the FL is actually quite well written. She’s smart, independent, decisive - not a green tea or white lotus, but a determined, sassy woman who has a lot of terrible people around her. The ML is not as interesting but not offensive - he’s a stock C-novel ML: germaphobe, zero EQ, incredibly rich, and a virgin until the FL comes alone. It was quite fun seeing them get together. But the story just stops 😡

The story started out great. Then there was a time skip and it’s like a different story. The romance was abrupt but the beginning when she was a kid and he was her brother was cute. The ending…well I think the author just didn’t have the energy to finish it so the major plot of the second half of the book, and the catalyst of this entire story, never gets resolved. Compared to the quality of novels on this site though, it’s quite readable and the beginning was very good.
