That wasn’t a fight Sunny could win. He’d have no backup because everyone would be under the mind hex, It’s a sea battle, this creature is probably saint level, and worst of all the biggest danger would be Sunny resisting the mind hex a second time. The monster was doing a mass aoe mind assault. If it focused on Sunny odds are he’d be controlled as well.

During the nightmare they all posses people from the past so mordret wouldn’t need to hijack someone from Sunny’s crew. And if I’ remembering correctly becoming a master remakes your body so mordret would essentially be ressurected if he survives and becomes a master
