Really should not use the r-word, translator. It's a slur in English and while it is an insult, it's not just insulting to the one it's being used on but instead is using the medical condition of a group of people as an insult. It's like calling non-diabetics diabetic as an insult. We don't do that and shouldn't with mental disabilities either. The equivalent term may be acceptable in other languages but in English, it's really not appropriate to use. This isn't a period piece either where it would be linguistically appropriate or anything.
