In a constant state of sleep deprivation.
I love this novel. It made me laugh so many times and gosh I just love the main character, he's funny, complex and has a hidden past. Honestly at first I wasn't too sure about this story but now I just can't stop reading, yes the characters are interesting but honestly it's the way the author writes the story that hooks you in and obviously the Mc does that too. I'm so happy I found this hidden treasure of a story because it deserves more popularity.
He literally stated that he didn't know she was in jail he only found out when she got out of jail and it was literally stated that he wanted to bail her out of jail with the money that he had amassed but he couldn't because she was already out
Well If anything I think she's smart like why would she go and confront Robert qu if she doesn't know how he'll react for all she knows he would get angry and kill her on the spot, so she snuck away without telling him or anyone and also she didn't take anything in the apartment so that she 1. Wouldn't give him an excuse to come after her and 2. So she wouldn't owe him anything more. At least that's how I saw it and also you have to understand that when she left she wasn't thinking right and was still under the pressure of her trauma.
(this review is long, so be prepared) I absolutely love the Mc character Asher, he is cold, calculating, smart and if your his enemy pray to God your death will be quick. I really like that the story is so developed, like at first I thought the story was going to be just another cliche but nope, it surprised me and in a good way, it's doing things differently and these are two things I have to comment on specifically. 1. Asher is actually a villain. Like so many times I'll read webnovels, books or mangas that advertise that they're Mc is a villain but then they turn out to be the biggest softie imaginable. Asher is a villain through and through and he doesn't care. 2. While alot of people don't like romance in these types of stories, i do or more specifically, I would've liked it but so many times romance in these type of stories are so badly handled it gives me a headache. If the Mc doesn't suddenly become a slave to the woman's every wants and desires and let's her hit and abuse him or whatever because he "loves her" , it's rushed, like the love story is so rushed that's painful for me to even call it romance and then alot of the times the romance ends up taking over the story which makes you have to go back and check to see if this was really action centered or whatever. Like its ok to have romance has a subplot but that's the thing, keep it has a subplot but unfortunately alot of authors can't do that which then ruins the entire story. Now coming back to what I really wanted to say is that this author actually seems to be able to incorporate the romance subplot without it overtaking the story, not only that but this romance actually makes sense, it's developed and well written and she actually go wells with Asher's personality. So the point is she makes sense, Asher and her make sense, this story makes sense and the author is actually able to balance everything (thank god).
I honestly really like how absolutely psychotic and/or calculating the main characters are, like it's honestly funny at this point. I also really like Ken's relationship with the children of the dark brotherhood, those kids deserve to be loved and cared for and what better person is fit for the job then our resident ex serial killer, current assassin and bounty Hunter Ken am I right? Well anyways really good book and I can't wait for new chapters
The characters are well fleshed out and aren't flat. They have personalities and back stories that make them compelling and very interesting characters. The story in and of itself is very interesting and I honestly really like the plot, like at first the story seems generic but the author took the story in a different direction than other books that share the same genre and I honestly didn't expect it but I am definitely liking it. And this is something I really like and appreciate in this story ; Alice and Gabriel are honest and straightforward with each other, they trust each other and though there are misunderstandings if you could even call them that, they are resolved quickly and most of them only happen because Gabriel and Alice both don't have much prior experience when it comes to love and caring about others and being cared for.
