yeah I never really understood why he had to miss class, if he only transforms at night. if he only had classes during the day, then he could have just locked himself up after and no one would know anything. they're not that far away! build your car and you can be there in an hour two max. leave them in their safe metal box, maybe put some sentry bots at the entrance too. nowhere is gonna be safer than that vault for his parents to be. taking them out of their safe vault and into what could end up as a war zone (if faction things go wrong), when he has the means to visit whenever he wants is so dumb

if they got advanced tech then after you take out a couple patrols and scan the stuff for yourselves, you could sic the brotherhood on them. but then the B.O.S might come out of the fight with more advanced tech and be a bigger problem later on
