Maybe we don't know enough about him, but this seems out of character to me. He wasn't shown is someone who was that greedy. I have a feeling that this is added for comedic relief but it fails at it.

As another reader already said, it will become boring very fast. 4-5 more missions and it will be too repetitive for me to continue. That's why I asked about romance earlier, since it adds more to the novel no matter the novel's origina; genre. You need to either have a 'Hub' world where he stays between missions with other races, mercenaries and such or add something else, or I don't see the novel going for more then 50 chapters
